Studio Portrait
Photo #1 is a very light, and exposed, purposely. The lighting came from a bulb directly straight from the left side, but was balanced with another on the right. Natural shadows are in the picture, but most of the picture is lit very balanced throughout. Half of her torso is included in the shot, facing the right (their left), but taken so that the facial expression was the center/focus. This position gives added information to the composition, "thinking," and an intellectual expression, hence the light bulb. The picture was taken vertically, directly straight at the model, and the camera was slightly close to the model. I used a more exposed, not too exposed, lighting to portray the enlightenment in the photo that showed the expression portrayed. Other pictures give a different vibe, with a more dark lit-exposure.
Self Portrait
Picture #7 was a photo taken on top of a table, with a self timer (difficult!). The camera was set on a a sunny white balance due to the light source being the sunlight, which illuminated the entire photograph evenly and naturally. No ISO, or shutter speed was set to take it. The shot was taken in the early afternoon, in which the sun was at its highest point, but not too overpowering. I purposely incorporated different patterns and textures in the photo. I knew that my living room had all different objects i thought would blend in nicely with my outfit, so I took the picture there, to make it more abstract. My shirt had stripes, my shoes were vibrant, which brought the eyes to the pink text on the magazine. Because I am not positioned in the middle, the picture does follow the rule of thirds. I wanted to express fashion and a classy personality by the blocking of the face, holding up a magazine, with bright, bold heels. I thought this was portrayed successfully because the body language fit the image perfectly, creating more of a compositional piece, rather than your average "selfie."
